My laptop died and refused to come back to life and it happened just when I wanted to start blogging again. Really. Not lying.

October! I got teary randomly thinking of my grandmom and everybody at back home. Even though it was just a month, it was intense. The fear of losing loved ones was over the top and it wasn't helping me at all. I dived into cooking which sometimes is a stress buster. So, this month I mastered Shami Kebabs


I made some chocolate cupcakes for the first time in a pressure cooker with some kinda frosting that I whipped up last minute using peanut butter. I got 6 cupcakes and we shared one to check the taste because I was taking them to Rehab's home for dinner. Upon reaching her place, I realized I should have made more as there were two other families. Two got eaten immediately and the rest that rested on the kitchen counter got eaten by the ants. LOL. I felt so sad but wanted to make these again for her soon and I did. :-) This time same chocolate cupcakes but made a proper peanut butter buttercream and tried my hands in piping too. I was so happy with the results but our madam was out of town lol. Well, thankfully she was back the next day! Not that it would go for waste because I have a sugar monster at home.

When Rehab and her two sons came home for breakfast to play with my cats! 




After what seemed eons, I tried my hands in carefully styled food photography of a simple dessert that I hardly make. Semiya Payasam or Seviyan Kheer!

From meatballs frenzy, I moved on to making skewered chicken with different marinades. After starting that low carb diet which we no longer abide by, our sense of eating has improved a lot. So adding meat to the diet was so easy now with just marinating, skewering and grilling them to delicious soft and juicy chicken.

These three boys have kept us so busy that we almost forgot Ragee's death anniversary. We drove to her spot and had breakfast beside her grave.

When the Mr points out that it has been long since he had a good biryani... I realized I had my share back home. Made my Thalassery Chicken biryani and had it for dinner too. :-)

GRANOLA

Remember the date balls? see above. I had more date paste and tried making granola!


You’ll, I cant stop raving about my #datepastegranola in a microwave recipe! 😊😋😋 I had tried it, tested it, and some of you too tried it and loved it...❤️ I am sharing here so many more can make this simple easy and crunchy and delicious #homemadegranola if you have #datepaste 😊 Also, did I mention this is totally #SUGARFREE 😱😱😱😱😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 Snack on it as is, add to yogurt, labneh or cream cheese or just milk... you do you! 😎 Recipe here images with recipe on highlights too! DATE PASTE GRANOLA Mix these in a large bowl: 1 1/2 cups Rolled oats 1/2 cup mix of almonds and walnuts 2 tbsp White sesame seeds 1 tsp Cardamom powder Salt to taste Add these to microwaveable small bowl and mw for 30 seconds: 1/2 cup date paste 1/4 cup olive oil 2 tsp orange blossom water The date paste and oil will not become one. But mwing just makes it easy to work with the date paste and mixing to oats. Mix the wet to the dry bowl. Mix throughly and ensure each oat is coated with wet mix. Spread the mixture on a flat microwaveable plate. Microwave on full power for 2 mins. Open and stir. Repeat 3 to 4 times for total of 7 to 8 minutes. Remove carefully and transfer to a large plate and let it cool completely. Stir in cinnamon chips and store in airtight container. Keep in cool place or refrigerate. #thinkoutofeggs #breakfastideas #makelifeeasy

AL SIRAJ TURKISH RESTAURANT

We had a good dinner at this restaurant and came back home with the leftovers packed. I used the kebabs in my pasta the next day and what a great makeover it was!

Caramel Popcorn that I never got right ever, happened perfectly today. Instantly posted on Instagram and so glad that few of them tried and loved how easy it actually is!

#caramelpopcorn on stovetop 😍😋😋😋☺️☺️☺️😎😎😎😎😎 RECIPE POST I made this couple of days ago and was over the moon! 😊 My ex-roomie @jeenamoorkoth and I share same love for this flavour and have unabashedly picked large container whenever we were out at the movies... I have tried making this a few times but was totally doing it wrong! 😬😄 Well, until now... 🤗 I thought of making one more batch for the sake of a good picture... but let me save us some calories and pounds. 😆 Best part is... you just need one pot and one large plate to cool them faster. Caramel 🍿 recipe: Pop 1/4 cup corns in a big pot with 1 to 2 tbsp oil Transfer the popped corns on to a large flat tawa plate Add 1/2 cup brown and white sugar mix to the same pot on low to med flame Keep stirring until all of the sugar is melted and caramelized Add 1 tbsp butter and stir until melted Add some salt if using unsalted butter Add 1/4 tsp baking soda and stir until volumes up... When you make pasta with leftovers and add chicken stock to the bechamel sauce... it becomes a satiating lunch...


Petacha, my grandmom left this world after prolonged illness. 


After a day of grieving alone, I planned to meet Aisha, Ragee's foster mom to spend some time with her newborn. Made Banana cupcakes with peanut butter buttercream for her kids. 


October ended in grief but looks promising for my mojo to cook and blog. Alhamdulillah!
