Yes, you may replace the pumpkin butter with any fruit or even nut butter of your choice and it will still be a delight to our tastebuds. I am sharing this recipe more on how to make creamy and buttery oatmeal though I strongly suggest that you do make a jar of pumpkin butter to witness how a fruit/vegetable can be a sweet breakfast!

Is pumpkin a fruit or a vegetable?

Did you know tomatoes are considered a fruit so are eggplants? As per botanists, any product that bears seeds is considered fruit so technically pumpkin is a fruit. But because they aren't too sweet and more savoury, we laymen categorize them as vegetables whereas a botanist categorizes them only based on their anatomy.

There truly isn't much of a recipe here but I will take some space to explain the common question I get asked on Instagram. Why do I call it oatmeal? Is it the same as oats?

Are oats and oatmeal the same?

Oats are a whole grain that is commonly eaten for breakfast as oatmeal as it is cooked in water or milk and other nutritious stuff are added making it a go-to meal. I don't have anything against calling it oats but I just feel like I am stating an ingredient rather than a dish. Hence, the title oatmeal is a more appealing name for a dish. Oatmeal is sometimes referred to as oats flour like an almond meal for almond flour. So there is nothing wrong in calling it just oats or oatmeal or oats porridge, etc.

Can we have oats on a low carb diet?

Short answer, Yes!
Even during my low carb eating days, I do include oats, it never hurt. The key is moderation and the secret would be to know how much is too much or just right, which only your stomach can tell and maybe your dietitian. For my bowl of oats, I stick to 1/3 or 1/2 cup of rolled oats but never more than that. It may look too little to satisfy your hunger but once you load it up with other ingredients that are fat-rich, you will feel satiated.
